Swingin' since 1983, the band was christened the "Swingline Cubs" by a bartender in a rare moment of history. But no professional organization, even those specializing in a "good time," can get very far without responsible business practices. This is what separates the Cubs from the rest of the pack. We offer prospective clients a full-service office and a full-time manager dedicated to the fulfillment of band and clients' needs. This means timely contacts, calls, contracts, mailings, and accounting. Event and Wedding Reception resources, event advice, referrals, and other services are routine. Larhonda Steele and Michkael Baker headline this iconic Portland band. A featured singer in her own right, LaRhonda is featured year after year at the Waterfront Blues Festival, as well as in the studio recording with everyone from Curtis Salgaldo to the Boogie Cat Norman Sylvester. Michkael Baker is well known for his Michael Jackson singing style and dancing. Upon recording our demos at Falcon Studios, one was overheard saying Michkael "sounds BETTER than Michael Jackson" when performing his music. Truly a great talent!

The Cubs can play Swing era favorites for the older sound like lounge music to a youth retro crowd. And for the boomers, they churn out R&B, Motown and 60's soul classics with Tower Of Power horn lines and gospel inflected vocals.  The group that specializes in guaranteeing its clients a good time wants its own party to measure up. The band's broad appeal is due in part to the deep and varied musical roots of its venerable Portland band has been around since 1983, playing festivals,nightclubs,weddings,corporate parties and other casual gigs, delighting with its superb musicianship,versatility and fun-loving spirit.

Alana:  Swingline Cubs is an amazing band! They worked with us quite a bit before the wedding to help plan both our ceremony and reception music. I took one star off of flexibility because they have a set number of songs they play from (mostly older songs) and don't really stray from that. We would have liked some more modern music too. I loved looking back at our wedding video and pictures and seeing how much fun everyone had dancing to this band at our wedding. That made me *really* happy!
