Sister Sister y Los Misters

Based in Houston TX

Sister Sister, a Grammy-nominated band, delivers a captivating fusion of genres with their unique blend of sultry, bluesy, and rockin' Texas-Mexican-Latin-Soul music. Their sound pays homage to their Texas-Mexican heritage while embracing a broad range of musical influences. The group is led by three talented sisters: Melinda Joyce Hernandez, a former member and vocalist for Little Joe y La Familia with recording credits for Reba McIntyre, Patricia Lynn Hernandez, who has also recorded for Little Joe and Bob Gallarza, and Nancy Saenz, a saxophonist and flutist who graduated from TSU’s school of music. Complementing their powerful presence are "The Misters," including family members and close friends like brother Chuggy Hernandez, who has played bass for Joe King Carrasco, lead guitarist Sir Cameron Gordon, and Richard "Rico" Luna, whose rich musical legacy hails from Houston. Their sound is often enriched by the addition of an accordion player, adding even more depth to their already diverse performances.

Their debut album, *A Little Bit of Texas, A Little Bit of Mexico*, a bilingual mix of Cumbia, Tejano, and Tex-Mex country, earned them one of the earliest Grammy nominations in the newly developed Tex-Mex/Tejano Latin Grammy category. Their follow-up album, *Latino Rocks!*, further showcased their versatility with jazzy Latin-rock grooves and displayed the full range of their musical talents. Sister Sister’s signature "Spanglish" groove, blending Tex-Mex Cumbia, Latin-Rock-Jazz, blues, and Mexican love ballads, has become a defining feature of their music, drawing in fans from both sides of the border.

Sister Sister has earned legendary status in Mexico, particularly for their celebrated album *A Little Bit of Texas, A Little Bit of Mexico*. Their international appeal has led them to perform two tours in Spain, including at the Pueblos Blancos Music Festival in 2018 and 2019, with another invitation extended for 2022. Their live performances feature a vibrant selection of original songs from their albums as well as unreleased tracks, blending soulful originals like “Sultry Texas Nights” and “Nina” with unique renditions of popular covers such as “Bamboleo,” “Volare,” and “Oye Como Va.” With their rich musical heritage and unmistakable style, Sister Sister y Los Misters offers a dynamic and electrifying show that captivates audiences worldwide.
