The Songbird
Following in her vocalist mother and horn-blowing father's footsteps, Marie-Louise joined the music scene, singing and playing the flute at an early age. A classical-trained vocalist, she later cut her chops at the Jazz School in Berkeley, CA and studied with jazz living-legends Kitty Margolis, Laurie Antonioli, and Madeline Eastman. Marie-Louise digs the standards and weaves scat, creating an 18-karat style of her own with blow your top sass and soul. She solidly swings, belts-out blues, and has been known to radiate rockabilly, croon country and even righteously rock n' roll. Marie-Louise gets down with the best of hot jazz and blues sides, especially her favs sung by the “trilogy of female jazz barnburners” Ella, Sarah and Carmen.
