John Malino Band
Ask John Malino who his musical heroes are, and he'll tell you Ella Fitzgerald and Jimi Hendrix. That may sound like an odd combo, but when you hear John and his Band perform, you can feel how they forge these influences into a sound that is cool, passionate, and totally their own. John and the Band immerse themselves in the attitude of a song, inviting their audience deeply into the soul of the music. However many musicians John may bring together for an event—two or twenty—you can be certain of their mastery of jazz and the full range of classic and contemporary popular music. And whatever the configuration, you can be certain that John Malino himself will be present to lead the Band. When you hire the John Malino Band, you get John Malino. Always.
Press reviews have compared Malino to John Pizzarelli, Harry Connick, Jr., and the young Frank Sinatra. Malino is also a songwriter and recording artist; recently David Sanborn contributed a saxophone solo to one of Malino's original recordings.
Malino and his Band have played major clubs throughout New York, including Birdland, Fez, Windows on the World, Life, Metronome, Le Bar Bat, Sardi's, Maxim's, Le Cirque, Lola, Tatou, Garage, and The Turning Point. The band also plays festivals and clubs throughout the country, including recent concerts at the Santa Monica Pier Concert Series and the Kennedy Center.
