Cormorant's Fancy

Based in York PA

Venues and reviewers call Celtic band Cormorant's Fancy "spellbinding," "with a knack for gorgeous arrangements." This brazenly trad band plays Irish, Scottish and other Celtic music at festivals to fairs, weddings to workshops, parlors to pubs, schools to retirement villages, eateries to estates, museums to jams, corporate events to keynotes, and worship to wakes. Our range from tenderly passionate love songs to growling soul-stirrers, and from captivating a cappella to swirling instrumentals, propels audiences into the living Irish and Scottish traditions and more. The band's compelling cross-generational lineup unites past, present and future so that our music rings true. They've been called the “most energetic” Irish folk band, yet we do it with finesse!

What will you find at a Cormorant's Fancy show?
You'll enjoy lots of clapping, toe-tapping and singing along.
You'll laugh out loud, and perhaps feel a tear in your eye.
You won't be surprised at spontaneous dancing in open spaces.
You'll feel the audience hang on every word of an unaccompanied ballad and hear them cheer for a rousing anthem.
You'll smile at children and the young-at-heart invited to join the band as guest percussionists on a set of jigs and reels.
You'll see Meg transformed from a lovelorn lass to an Irish patriot in high fervor, to a grief-stricken sweetheart, and back.
You'll simply have a fantastic time!

Cormorant's Fancy tailors every show to its venue, such as high-energy St. Paddy's parties, other all-Irish celebrations, authentic all-Scottish programs and Burns Suppers, fun sing-alongs, romantic wedding sets, lively tunes for dancers and ceilidhs, laid-back restaurant sets, pumped-up pub shows, engaging school and children's presentations, lovely Celtic Christmas programs, happy New Year's events (Hogmanay), and Celtic worship services! Add to these the endless combinations of the band's styles. We have a full array of workshops too, presented in engaging and supportive styles. We're generous and encouraging teachers. We get to know our venues to present shows and/or workshops that perfectly fit their needs. We delight in working with all ages, and comfortable in many settings. Authenticity and originality are perfect partners in everything we do!

We treasure the depth and breadth of Irish, Scottish, and all Celtic traditional music! We constantly search for the very best songs and tunes, the music we know you will love! Celtic music is in our blood, our heritage in Ireland's County Down, Clan Donald of the Scottish Isles, Wales, Cornwall, and Celtic Canada. Only the rare band matches our vocal capabilities or spirited and nuanced playing! Every member of Cormorant's Fancy is a singer and a multi-instrumentalist! Each brings creativity and talent to everything we do. We're much more than just the typical Irish band.

We truly love it when our audiences sing along, clap along, and dance along! That's why you'll recognize familiar chorus songs and the infectious beats of jigs and reels. And that's why we provide sing-along sheets, and even rhythm instruments so that the young and young-at-heart join in on percussion.
