Citizen O'Kane
Citizen O'Kane is, in essence, a three-piece, guitar-driven vocal group. These particular three pieces have come together after knowing each other for a long time… connecting through music, naturally.
In the late '80s, Stan, with both The Boomers and The Works, was a semi-permanent fixture at the Studio Cafe at Balboa Pier. Ray would often sit in with them there on steamy Saturday nights and sweltering Sunday afternoons. In the early '90s, Kevin was playing in Naughty Face with guitar shredder Pat Hennessy and Ray would often be called, sometimes last-minute, to sub with that band. It was Pat who first dubbed him "Save-The-Day-Ray!"
Five years ago, Stan began a weeknight solo stint at The Fling, a smokey, vintage cocktail lounge on the edge, and as he gradually worked in other players, Citizen O'Kane came into being. A few different bassists and drummers have come and gone, but the lineup has solidified over the past two years to these three exceptional players/singers/performers.
Tuesdays were added to Mondays, and now Wednesdays, too. We are endeavoring to increase the now only occasional weekend gig to a more regular occurrence by the end of this year.
