Chaopraya Ensemble - Thai Cultural Society of Seattle Music and Dance
We are a group of families and close friends who share the same love for Thai music and dance. Most of the musicians and dancers of the Chaopraya Ensemble have been performing together for more than 35 years. Some of us are new but we share the same passion and goals. When we get together for a jam session, we have a great time sharing tasty home cooked Thai food and music.
Our ensemble performs Thai classical and folk music on traditional Thai instruments as well as a wide range of dances, from lively regional folk dances to the graceful and stylish court dances.
Chaopraya Ensemble focuses primarily on preserving Thai music and dance heritage for all the children and younger generations to enjoy and participate in. We also seek opportunities to share our love and appreciation for the arts with our new homeland here in the U.S..
Under the guidance of one of Thailand’s master musicians Thaworn Sripong, a noted Ranaad Ek (Thai wooden xylophone) soloist, Chaopraya Ensemble earned a spot on King County Arts Commission Touring Arts Roster for the year 2002-2003.
